The film that introduced the world to Hip-Hop during its formative years, showcasing all four elements through an incredible lineup of artists like Melle Mel, The Treacherous Three, Doug E. Fresh, The Rock Steady Crew, NYC Breakers, Jazzy Jay, Sha-Rock, Debbie D, Lisa Lee and Kool Herc, plus even Phase 2 as a creative consultant! And of course, Arthur Baker on the soundtrack!

One of the things I love about this movie is the innocence it captures, a time when Hip-Hop was pure, before the industry distorted it.
Sure, there’s some ‘80s cheesiness here and there, but Beat Street remains one of the greatest Hip-Hop films of all time, right up there with Wild Style and Breakin’, and a personal favorite of mine!
